Au Pair Visa Ireland – Information

European Union (EU)/European Free Trade Association (EFTA)

EU and EFTA nationals do not require a Au Pair Visa Ireland work permit, but must register with local authorities (Garda) after arriving in Ireland.


In order for non-EU nationals to become an au pair in Ireland, they are required to have a Work Permit. Some of the types of work permits that you may be able to apply for are:

  • Student visa in Ireland
  • Working Holiday Maker programme in Ireland
  • Work & Travel programme in Ireland
